My girlfriend has developed sudden lower to middle back on-off pain when mostly sitting or standing. The ranging pains are pretty much instant. Less pain is noticed when laying down. Hey kidney region is also have these symptoms. Their has been minimal blood in the urine. She has no pain going to the bathroom. She has a burning sensation in the kidney region. Doctor says a urinary tract infection, and now a possible kidney infection. She has been on medications for a week now with no relief what so ever. Any ideas what may be happening? How long does something like this take to clear up? I believe her back pain is getting worse. THANKS
Sounds like a kidney infection to me. They don’t just "clear up" if the medication she was given for the UTI isn’t working, she needs something different, and by the sounds of it the medicine isn’t working. Take her to the ER.

Call the Doctor tomorrow ASAP. She should be getting better on the medicine if the diagnosis was correct.

Second opinion! Hopfully she has been seeing a regular physician and not just going to emergency, followup is key. Scarry stuff, hope she feels better!!

she could have kidney stones, have her get an ultrasound of her kidneys….

how can you expect her to "clear up" if her symtoms are getting worse..
back pains are related to stomach and kidney pains becuase you tense up your back to relieve the pain on your "guts"
blood in urine is never normal, even if its just a little.
keep an eye on her, get a second opinion if you dont trust your doctors judgement.

Take her to another doctor and have him test for this.

Had a kidney stone that was so big that, even after fragmenting it with ultrasound, it took me 4 months to pass it all. Believe me, I know the symptoms!
Well last year I had a UTI and thats how I’d describe the pain. It starts out almost feeling like a bad cramp, and eventually the pain gets worse. She needs to get on some antibiotics!!

I had the same thing.
Possible Kidney Stones.
ALSO
Possible Inflammation of Colon or other Colon related problems.
Suggest she sees a SPECIALIST like a (gastro-intestional or internal medicine specialist).
She probably doesn’t drink enough water (and/or) drinks too much liquid diuretics (coffee, tea, cokes).
Antibiotics and drinking lots of water works, but takes about a week before the nagging pain goes away. I wouldn’t wait though. Get a referral to one of the specialist I mentioned above.
Get pain meds. too! Vicodan helps.
