Hi, I am 21 years old and male. I woke up last week (approximately 7 days ago) and had some lower back pain. I’ve been like that all week. Yesterday the lower back pain sorta went away but now it’s in the hips. Mostly the left hip. Sometimes it goes to the right but never on both sides. It feels like it stretches out my hips and back, really odd feeling. I am a little nervous about this and not sure if I have something serious or not.

Please give me advice. Also, when should be the appropriate time to go see a doctor (and if so, what kind of doctor…or do I go to the ER?)

Thank you in advance. I’m tired of taking painkillers all week.

Back problems can often cause leg pain as well, so I’m sure that the pain in your hip is related to whatever is ailing your back. I would speak to a doctor who specializes in orthopedics or I know at the hospital I work it is the neurosurgeons who do many of the back surgeries.

About a year ago I’ve been having knee pain making it hard to walk up stairs. I’m 19 and I have to think twice if i want to go to the mall,(all that walking can take its toll on my knees). 2 weeks ago I started having lower back pain. This morning I woke up and the front part of my left hip was and is still sore. Any explanations?

What I would like you to do is keep an open mind. This can be a bad road to go down if you do not address the muscle imbalances in your pelvic area. They are corrected by performing strength building exercises for the parts of the body that are under used or do not recieve adequate neurological stimulation. Any therapist experienced in neurological release can help you with this.

While correcting muscle imbalances the pain should subside as you are young and I am assuming you where not born with defects or any diseases? A CMT therapist will address your muscular architecture while a chiropractor ensures your nerves are working properly by releasing any interference from subluxations or misplaced joints. Also, you need to improve your mental outlook. Positive thinking and attitude will reflect how well your body reacts to strength training and chiropractic adjustments. If you have any bad habits…. that involve nicotine use. Stop… this makes it harder for your muscles to unlearn your bad habits…….If you have any doubts about how your brain (and emotions) work with your muscles look up PIPS.

Ok so for the last couple of weeks I have had lower back pain and hip pain! It feels better when I sit down if I stand it gets worse if I sit down again the pain takes about 10 min’s to go away! Dose anybody know what this is or how to get rid of it? Please help this is really painful!

It is probably your sciatica nerve.. You need to stretch your back, I have my husband pull my leg (gently) with my leg at a 45 degree angle and hold it for about 15 secs. Then gently release it. Keep doing this for about 10 times. Use heat on your back before you begin..

Hi. I’m a 37 year old male. For 4 months now I have had pain in my lower back, abdomen, and groin area(all on my left side). Sometimes this pain is extremely intense and the only way to curb it is to just go to bed. I basically just woke up one day with this pain. I also have some major noises coming from my intestines. I have had a abdominal and pelvic ct scan, which came back negative, and have also on my own done a home fecal occult blood test, which was also negative. I’m a little nervous about this, and i’m sure my nervous mind has probably caused these symptoms to become worse. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on what this could be. The stomach noises get pretty load at times.

bladder/kidney infection? stones? hmmm maybe you are lactose intolerant, does it hurt after certain foods or do you notice any patterns with the pain? go to www.webmd.com and do the symptom checker thing… it can probably help you out more than i can!

I was in a car wreck almost two weeks ago. I was sore but nothing too terrible and didn’t seek medical attention. Now, besides pain between shoulder blades, I have severe pain in my lower back, spreading to my hips and tailbone, especially when lying down. What could this be? Should I go to the doctor or wait it out? Any tips for relief? Thanks!

It may or may not be related to your accident. Common causes of low back pain include lumbar strain, nerve irritation, lumbar radiculopathy, bony encroachment, and conditions of the bone and joints. Other causes of low back pain include kidney problems, pregnancy, ovary problems, and tumors. Uncommon causes of low back pain include Paget’s disease of bone, bleeding or infection in the pelvis, infection of the cartilage and/or bone of the spine, aneurysm of the aorta, and shingles. Check this site for discussions of these causes, as well as treatment options. Considering your history, you should probably see your doctor.

Hi there. I’m 35 weeks and 1 day pregnant. I feel like I have severe lower back pain. I know back pain is normal during pregnancy, but my lower back hurts so bad sometimes that I can’t even walk. The pain is just as bad when I lay down. My hips also hurt…more so my right hip. When I get up to go to the bathroom, it hurts to walk because of the pain in my hips. I’m afraid to lay down or even get up when sitting because of pain in both back and hips. My legs also hurt and feel weird in the middle of the night when I sleep. I think my legs are effected by my other pains. Are these pains normal in pregnancy?

Yes, it is normal. I’ve got the same problems. Hurts so bad to get up and sometimes I feel like crawling around the house.
